一脑三用

Saturday, February 26, 2011 |

Malaysia Welcomes You!

My brother is back from Italy! After two months of being away!

Click here if you have no idea why he went Italy in the first place.

And the first thing he did when he got off the car back from the airport was hug me. Like, those really tight hugs.

Talk about attitude change!  And that's not yet the most shocking thing. Shhhh... =)

BTW, my little brother really does know me well.

Have I mentioned I love my brother? xD

For those who know him, better start asking him out! First come first serve!

Choco <3

Good enough for now,

Sky Lantern

Friday, February 18, 2011 |

Shhh... I know this is illegal!

Let's just pretend it's not, or pretend you didn't see it. xD

During the CNY period, our family had a sky lantern released into the sky. Or maybe you all are more familiar with the name "孔明灯".

First thing first is to write wishes on the lantern.

Next is lighting the square size candle at the bottom of the lantern. Not really a one person job.

The lantern starts to get filled with air...

Starts to float up....

And off it goes!

With our wishes...further and further it goes until the candle block stops burning...

For those who dun understand Chinese, the words wrote on the lantern meant everything goes as your heart wishes so, and the safeness and healthiness of the whole family.

No idea if wishes do come true this way, but it still some kind of tradition that we're trying to find back the feeling of it. =)

Bye bye to CNY,
Shanay

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

Whether you're single or not, whether you're alone or not
there's no saying only certain people can celebrate Valentine's.

Be your own valentine today.
Let love and happiness fill the air!

For those who happen to have a valentine date...
Enjoy! =)

XOXO,
Shanay

CNY - Photo Stories

Friday, February 11, 2011 |

Chinese New Year is really something that is quite similiar every year. Other than the clothes you wear and the amount of angpau you get.

I really admire those people that can blog about their CNY by days. From CNY eve till Chor 5 or 6! I don't really have that much interesting stuff to blog about. *sobs*

After the second day of CNY, I stayed at home most of the time. What a boring life  = =

Basically I spent the whole Chinese New Year with family and relatives. Friends? Not so much. Most of them were either not free or back at their hometowns.

So, I'll just wrap my CNY post up with few photos from here and there...

My mum loves decorating the house when it comes to Chinese New Year. It's rabbit year this year, so that would explain all the rabbit stuff toys. And a tiger being forgotten at the bottom right corner. Lol.

---

Had a small reunion dinner (steamboat!) with only me and my aunt's family. Somehow this tradition has long gone from our family. They all rather eat lunch together and spend the night at home.

When I have my own family...this dinner will be one of the most important dinner of the year!

---

Playing fireworks was something we did every Chinese New Year eve when we were small. But this year, with my brother in Italy and cousins getting too old for this, there left only me and my cousin sister enjoying ourselves with the sparks.

And the fireworks were faulty too. Kept exploding with a large "pop" when we least expected. Guess that happens when you leave these China-made products in the cupboard for too long. (A few years to be exact)

---

A scene you see all the time during this festive season! Shoes scattered everywhere!

My relatives all came to my house on the third day of CNY, which is how I managed to capture this.

---

I finished a whole bucket of "nga gu" a few days before CNY. They're as addictive as potato chips! = =

---

The best thing of CNY!

Got more angpau money than I expected this year, some huge angpaus coming from people I didn't really expect.

And the angpau designs are getting better and better this year! Liked the OCBC Bank's one the best!

--------

There are loads of complains that this year's holiday for Chinese New Year was too short. Seriously, starting class on Chor 5? That's such a torture! =)

But still, we need to wrap up the festival fever sooner or later.

A few more days to go...enjoy this Chinese New Year to the fullest!

A late Happy Chinese New Year to all my readers!

Cycling - Taman Pertanian

1st February 2011, Tuesday

Went out early early in the morning. Even though we didn't know the road, following the instructions were easy enough.

Everyone was in sports attire. Except for Kai Wei who was in shorts. One advice to anyone who wants to go : There really are a lot of mosquitoes there, and they show no mercy at attacking.

Bikes!

Mark teaching Wai Yan how to start.

Got our bikes and the first thing we had to do was to teach Wai Yan how to ride one. She was a fast learner, at least faster than I was when I first went on a bike.... but still she spent most of the time pushing her bike.

Wai Yan behind us..quit a far distance

Using the free time of waiting.... The sun was so bright!

Chibi Snowmans!

After god knows how many cried of being tired, we managed to reach the Four Seasons House. It was Snow at that current time, but I suppose the management was changing it to Spring, so not only did we get in free, we also did not get to step inside the snow scene.

All we did was stand outside and watch through plastic walls. Or what it supposed to be like that?

We "rested" at a playground nearby after wards. Everyone was tired, a bit hungry and wanting to sit down.

Mark faking to be tall

Wai Yan looking very cute

After that we finally decided to go home. When we had barely went through a quarter of the whole Taman. But what to do? We weren't really those people with loads of stamina.

Going back was faster than I thought, even though we dreaded the uphill roads.

And...Wai Yan finally learned how to cycle. When we were almost back to the starting point! I didn't know people could learn cycling in less than 2 hours. =) Fast huh?

And I got video evidence!

So ended our cycling day at Taman Pertanian. Mark said we should come once every month. But before this she also said we should go jogging once every two weeks (Which we forgot immediately). So I'm not really worried. xD

But it really is a fun place if you know how to cycle, and have enough stamina to go on without fainting.

Penang

Friday, February 4, 2011 |

Went with my family to Penang during the CNY holiday. When I said family, basically it just meant me and my parents.

Brother's still in Italy, while my sister hated the long ride.

I had the whole back seat to myself!

Bought along a lot of my sleeping stuff. One can never get enough pillows right? =)

Penang was my mum's hometown, so we didn't do stuff that usual tourists did. All we did was go from one house to another house, giving presents, talking and eat/drink. Most of them being relatives.

My mum has 6 sisters. And 5 of them live in Penang. Guess how busy we were to visit all of them in less than 2 days (minus the time driving there).

It's a huge family there.

The weather at Penang was hot hot hot with no rain. I only knew when I came back that KL had rained for one whole day, and floods happened in Johor during those three days I was away.

But then its still hot. CNY weather. ==

Reporting Back

Tuesday, February 1, 2011 |

 I'm back from Penang!

Went with my gals to Taman Pertanian Bukit Cahaya at Shah Alam today... will blog ASAP! But that of course, along with my Penang post (if there ever is one) will have to wait for after CNY.

I've already started getting angpaus btw. What a great surprise!

Tomorrow's Chinese New Year's eve! I'm going back to my dad's hometown Banting to gather together with my relatives. Soon my new clothes will be outta the cupboard and out in broad daylight!

Wishing all my readers a Happy Chinese New Year in advance!
