Good Bye 2011

Saturday, December 31, 2011 |

At the beginning of 2011, I wrote down my New Year's Resolution. (see here). Other than the first one, I didn't really achieve any of them. Seems like a year is really not enough for big changes.

Now, in the blink of an eye 2011 is almost over. There's a saying that as you get older, times goes by faster.

What was 2011 for you?

2011 was a year of making choices and deciding.

2011 was a year of dealing with stuff that had never been though of before.

2011 was a year of growing up, whether I liked it or not.

2011 was a year that made me realise how heavy the responsibility on my shoulders would, and were; how to grasp on to stuff that I had right now before I lost them to time.

Life is just as simple as this. You don't have another chance to be twenty.

Sometimes I really wonder, what will happen to us after we graduate. Can we still stay the same way we are now? Can we still just sit down at a random place, and chat till who knows who long?

I'll leave all the mushy mushy drama talk till next year when we graduate. But it'll still be the same sentance : College would never had been the same without you guys.

I doubt anyone counts the days since they last met each other like we do.

It's been more than 2 months now, but every weekend I still think of the possibilities of us meeting up. Distance is a bitch, and not a very kind one either.

But I can still see into the far future, where our kids will be happily playing together, and calling each of us Auntie something! =)

Through thick and thin, there are people who still stand by your side. When you're feeling that it the responsibility your age should handle, there are still people that pat you on your head and get everything done for you.

No matter where and when, deep down you still wanna feel like a child.

2011 is counting down, and 2012 is just right around the corner.

I saw this quote from the movie "New Year's Eve" that day, and I think it's really inspiring. The scene was right after the ball drop at New York Time's Square stopped halfway.

It's suspended there to remind us before we pop the champagne and celebrate the new year, to stop and reflect on the year that has gone by. To remember both our triumphs and our missteps, our promises made and broken. The times we opened ourselves up to great adventures or closed ourselves down for fear of getting hurt coz that is what new years is all about- getting another chance. A chance to forgive, to do better, to do more, to give more, to love more. And stop worrying about what if and start embracing what would be. So when that ball drops at midnight and it will drop, let's remember to be nice to each other, kind to each other. And not just tonight but all year long.

I never did really announce this to everyone, but I alread have a solid plan of flying off to UK next year, and stay there for my degree for two years. It isn't a very long time, yet it isn't a short breeze of time either. That would explain all my sentimental and emotional moments, I guess. The fact of knowing I won't be on the same land next year this time makes me sad.

I know I did a lot of stupid wrong stuff in 2011, and I know I did a great deal of good stuff in 2011 as well.

I'm sorry to those I offended, I apologize for everything I did wrong. At the same time, I'm grateful at those who helped me throughout this long year, and I'm glad to have the love of so many people.

谢谢你们 爱我的每个人

Good Bye 2011,
may you step slowly into history, and bring with you all misfortunes of the year.

Hello 2012,
may you be the new chance everyone of us deserves to get.

Angels bought everyone here,

2011 Recap Photos

This has gonna be a traditional yearly-post by now.

RECAP OF 2011!

First Photo of 2011! @Sunway Pyramid

2011 started out as usual, with the beginning of a new, and also my last normal semester at College.

And I still had the cute bangs that I experimented during Dec 2010. Really looks so different, even to myself. But it made my face look so damn small. >< Got the urge to go cut it again.....

January 2011 Cute bangs!

Too bad they started to grow up and end up at an awkward length.

February 2011 - Valentines Flowers!

And of course, there was my brother coming back from Italy after being a transfer student there for almost 2 months. Home just wasn't the same without him. (link)

March was a busy month, with the end of a semester coming really soon.

March 2011 - Stress!

In just the year 2011 I got in the Segi College Dean's List twice. Such a honor! And it looks great on my resume =)  (link)

April 2011

A Food Bazaar was held in April for our Principles of Marketing Subject. It was really great to be among the highest earning groups, and being personally praised by our lecturer. A lot of hard work was put into this whole event, and the success was really the credit of all my group members! So proud of us! (link)

In May I started my Internship at a small design company in Puchong. I never really blogged about it due to various reasons, but if I were to say the biggest impact of the year, this would be it.

I spent around 3 months working as an intern, experiencing the dull working life, and 2 more months on and off working part time. What I experienced, what I learned, what I came to realise... was way more than just academic purposes.

Perhaps years later I'd look back and say, that it was at this point of life that made me see all the wrongs in my life, and made me choose what I did choose at that point.

June 2011

And then.. my dear Mark graduated from College! We started college at almost the same time, but now she's already a diploma holder! Envy to the max! (link)

People come and go, but the ones who leave leaves in sorrow, while the one who comes is surrounded by joy. So glad that this year it was all joy and no sorrow.

July 2011

July 2011- I reached the second milestone of my life : my twentieth birthday. No matter how dreadful I was of this age, it still had to come. That's just life.  (link)

I was really happy to see all the people that took turns in showing me that there are still people in this world that cared. Having my own birthday in the middle of my internship was really a pain in the ass. Especially since my birthday was on Thursday, a working day.

Friends, distance pulls us apart, but times just gets us closer.

At the same time I also opened a new Facebook account for those I really knew. (Add me HERE if you haven't!) And I got my first ever Blackberry!

While I was celebrating my 2nd decade in this world, my parents were ready to celebrate their 50th Birthday! (Chinese calendar counting of course) And since it was such an important date, there was an important celebration at Marriot Hotel Putrajaya! (link)

September 2011

And officially, my last semester at Segi College Subang Jaya started during October. My sis flew off to Cardiff, UK to finish her law studies, while my brother moved into a hostel at Nilai to be near to his college, leaving me to be the only child at home.

Life was really lonely at first, with no one next door to talk to, no one downstairs for me to kacau every now and then.... And that would explain my significantly decreasing of blogging during that period of time. Life was boring and un-fun..

October 2011

No matter what my camera and my cam-whoring is still going on 24/7, 365 days 12 months! Looking back at it now, I'm really grateful I started doing this since 2008. Every photo was a memory and is a history. Perhaps someday I'll compile all of them into a photobook for the 50 year old me to see! =)

November 2011

Mummy bought a new car during November. It's been a long time since my house had a car this size. And it's a really smart car that's worth it's price!

December 2011

As my latest blog posts would tell you, I spent Christmas at Penang (link), and that basically wraps up all recaps of 2011. One really long blog post, full of photos but lacks feelings.

So there will be one more blog post before 2012 comes! Stay tuned! I only have one day left to get it done!

Remembering and creating,

Christmas at Penang

24 December 2011, Saturday

The journey from KL to Penang was tiring. Rained half the way and jammed with the traffic for the other half. Seems like everyone was rushing back home for Christmas that weekend.

Reach Penang so late there was barely time for anything. My aunt did bring me and my family to Straits Quay late that night though.  It was literally FULL of people. And couples.

25 December 2011, Sunday

The main reason of our visit to Penang during this festive season : my cousin brother's wedding. Almost all my relatives from my mother's side were there for this big celebration. A lot of kids, a lot of relatives, and a lot of people I only knew by sight.

Dad and Mum going through the drinking tea ceremony.

My family, my popo and my eldest aunt's family with the married couple!

And as usual, there was the dinner celebration at night.

Main table decoration

Me and my little cousin sister.

And lastly, a photo of the married couple...

So simply, there was nothing Christmas-y about the whole visit to Penang at all. I do not know why I typed Christmas in the title anyway.

But I got one great Christmas present that will blow your mind off. Stay tuned!

All I want for Christmas is you,

Merry Christmas

This year I'm a reindeer! As if. HAHA.

Spending my Christmas at a wedding at Penang this year, but Christmas should still be celebrated!

Did Santa came to your house and filled your stocking last night? Loads of Christmas presents? =)

Hope everyone has a great Christmas today! Here's one nice Christmas song that I personally like very much. Enjoy the Christmas feel!

Winter Solstice 2011

Thursday, December 22, 2011 |

22 December 2011, Thursday

Just noticed that today is written as 111222. Triples numbers, cool huh? And you seldom see me actually updating my blog post at the exact same date as written on the top of the blog post. With Christmas and New Year coming I might just be punctual for a change!

Once again it's the time of the year where "tang yuan"s are suddenly a very popular food. My facebook and twitter feeds are full of photos of them, and people discussing about them.

But then again, it really is a tradition that should be kept, even as we grow up.

This year Mum was a bit busy with other stuff, so she bought ready-made rice balls from Jusco, which was different from our usual self-making rice balls. They were larger, and the fillings in it were much more tastier, but on the down side they only had one color : white.

Highly recommend this brand called "KG" though. Really good rice balls they make.

Spot the ginger in the water! Some people don't put ginger when cooking tang yuens, but my mum says it makes it more tastier, other than the pandan leaves taste.

Add some sugar and pour everything out into bowls... and there you have it, 1 bowl of big tang yuens that can barely fit in the bowl!

Happy Winter Solstice everyone!

Older by a year already,

Just for Laughs - Damn You Auto Correct

Saturday, December 10, 2011 |

Happened to stop at this hilarious website called "Damn You Auto Correct". They show these iPhone printscreens of chats/messages that turn up totally wrong and funny with their autocorrect words!

All iPhone users should know how hard it is to type on that freaking keyboard that keeps auto-correcting your words for you. Laughed till I couldn't stop when reading through the posts!!

Just gonna share a few I found really hilarious here....

These just made my day,
